In Texas alone, AIR claims that over 12 million residential and industrial properties were affected by the tragedy. Various data collected by the Insurance Council of Texas and other Verisk Analytics units and industry commentary indicates that the total loss amount could surpass that of Hurricane Harvey in 2017.

At the same time, AIR forecasts that the bulk of the lawsuits against insurance companies would impact personal lines of insurance.

"Uncertainty occurs in the extent of insured damages to commercial/industrial lines as well as the taking up of the utility service interruption endorsement," the insurer says.
