the State Farm scamming people.
In an email dated Oct. 17, 2005, the engineering firm will continue to
work with State Farm, but mentions the need to redo a report's wording
to serve the conclusions better.
It also says State Farm didn't want local engineers to inspect properties
because they were emotionally involved and "working very hard to
find justifications to call it to wind damage when the facts only indicate
water-induced wear. State Farm was also apparently upset that it had to
pay legitimate claims. Also, a State Farm commissioned a study focused
on eyewitness reports, the email stated.

Some engineers commissioned by State Farm are challenging the insurer's
motives in a reply dated Oct. 18, 2005, and asked whether there was an
ethical issue with State Farm asking the company what to put in reports.
The engineer also suggested that on another occasion, State Farm asked
the company to delete details from a story because State Farm would have
to compromise.
I doubt the ethics of anyone who wants to fire us simply because our findings
do not fit theirs explained an engineer.
But what about the apparent fact that State Farm would love to see any
report come through as water damage to allow minimum settlements.
These emails are the first paper proof we can see engineers voicing concern
about being forced to alter reports.
Someone deserves a gold star on his forehead to be one of the most ethical people.
